The goal of the Maintenance Department is to provide quality, cost-effective, and timely custodial, maintenance, repair services for the Blount County Courthouse, Annex, and Justice Center. In addition, a wide variety of technical support services are provided to numerous other county facilities, including the Thompson/Brown House, Everett School, satellite offices of the County Clerk (Foothills Mall, Motor Mile, and the Chamber at Fort Craig), the Health Department, Library, Highway Department, and Townsend Visitors Center.
For 1999 and 2000 the greatest challenges will be the renovation of the 97,000 square-foot Courthouse, and the operations and maintenance of the new 167,000 square-foot Jail and Justice Center. The Justice Center adds hundreds of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, over one thousand lighting fixtures, a digital energy management control system, and a host of mechanical and electrical subsystems. To help meet the challenge, the Maintenance Department has grown to 10 full-time and four part-time personnel.
The Maintenance offices are located in the old Courthouse, 4th floor, room 434.
