Retirement Plan

Blount County Government Employees are provided with retirement benefits through the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS).  For more information, contact TCRS at 800.770.8277.

Membership: Employed 6 months (full time) to be a member

 Contribution Requirement: 5% of salary

 Vesting: Vesting rights after 5 years of service

· A vested member is one who has accrued enough years of service to guarantee a retirement benefit once age requirements are met.

 Refunds: Upon separation of employment, participants may apply for a refund of account balance.

· Federal withholding tax requirements apply to early withdrawals.

Benefit Eligibility: Age 60 or 30 full years of service for unreduced benefits. Reduced benefits are available at age 55.

 Average Final Compensation: The average of the five highest consecutive years of salary, which cannot exceed 75% of average final compensation.
