Office of Professional Standards

The Office of Professional Standards is a vital part of Sheriff's Office operations. Accreditation, internal affairs, and training, all fall under the Office of Professional Standards.


The primary function of internal affairs is the receipt and assignment of complaints received from citizens regarding the actions of Blount County Sheriff's Office employees. The Internal Affairs Unit also initiates and/or monitors investigations initiated by the Sheriff's Office independently of outside complaints.
